Questions
Do I need planning permission?
Most houses don’t: solar panels on a pitched roof are usually permitted development. Listed buildings and conservation areas are different, and we check before we quote.
Will it work on an east or west roof?
Yes. An east or west roof makes roughly 80% of what a south roof would, and often matches when you use energy better. North-facing roofs rarely make sense, and we will say so.
What happens on cloudy days?
Panels still make power under cloud, just less. A year in the vale gives about 950 kWh for every kWp on a south roof, and the estimate already allows for our weather.
